Marcos Moreno, MD, MPH, is a psychiatrist and health policy leader whose work focuses on addiction medicine, behavioral health systems, emergency psychiatry, and public-sector psychiatry. Doctor Moreno trained at Yale University, where he served as Chief Resident and a Public Psychiatry Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry, and worked across academic, community, and safety-net healthcare settings caring for patients with complex psychiatric and substance use disorders.

Doctor Moreno’s clinical, policy, and advocacy work centers on improving behavioral healthcare delivery, care engagement, and integrated systems of treatment for underserved and historically marginalized populations. He has led community-based behavioral health initiatives and developed projects focused on addiction treatment access, retention in care, and culturally responsive models of healthcare delivery. His work has included collaboration with Native American health systems, Medicaid stakeholders, academic institutions, and public-sector partners.

His scholarship and advocacy efforts have addressed addiction medicine, population health disparities, environmental health, and healthcare access, with work featured in publications including The Lancet, The New England Journal of Medicine, Psychiatric Services, and a United Nations-sponsored volume on climate and health equity. He has received several nationally competitive fellowships, including the APA-SAMHSA Fellowship, the Ginsburg Fellowship through the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry, and the Climate & Health Equity Fellowship.

Following completion of the Commonwealth Fund Fellowship at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Dr. Moreno will serve as Medical Director for Behavioral Health and Addiction Medicine within the Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s health system in Arizona, while continuing academic and policy collaborations with colleagues at Yale University and the University of Arizona Department of Psychiatry.
