Matthew Moore, DMD is honored to serve as a 2026–2027 Joseph L. Henry Fellow. His professional interests center on the intersection of public health, policy, and surgical care.  Dr. Moore views public health as an art to heal through service, leadership, and research.

Most recently, Dr. Moore completed a fellowship in Orthognathic and TMJ Surgery with the Carolinas Center for Oral and Facial Surgery in Charlotte, North Carolina. Prior to fellowship, he completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, where he earned certificates in both Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Health Policy. He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and a General Practice Residency in California at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Dr. Moore earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Morehouse College. Following graduation, he was awarded the prestigious Intramural Research Training Award at the National Institutes of Health, where he conducted translational research at the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from East Carolina University.

Through his clinical training, research experiences, and commitment to community service, Dr. Moore has developed a passion for addressing disparities in oral health and expanding access to care. As a Joseph L. Henry Fellow, he seeks to strengthen his expertise in health policy and public health to advance innovative solutions that improve health outcomes for underserved populations.
