Commonwealth Fund Mongan Fellowship in Minority Health Policy
Between 1996 and 2016, one hundred and twenty-four fellows and scholars have participated in these three fellowship programs. All alumni have been actively engaged in aspects of policy, research and service delivery related to minority health and public health. A significant number of alumni have assumed leadership positions in federal agencies, as well as state, county and city departments of health or in national and regional health organizations and associations. These health professionals, who have been well-trained academically and professionally in health policy, health management, and clinical medicine and who are deeply committed to service, have become leaders and change agents in creating high-performance health systems that respond to the needs of vulnerable populations.

Harvard Medical School"As we commemorate the 20th year anniversary of the Commonwealth Fund Mongan Fellowship in Minority Health Policy (formerly named Commonwealth Fund/Harvard University Fellowship in Minority Health Policy), I would like to thank The Commonwealth Fund for their continuous support and commitment to the Fellowship. I would also like to recognize and thank The California Endowment and Delta Dental of Massachusetts for their sponsorship of the California Endowment Scholars in Health Policy at Harvard University and the Joseph L. Henry Oral Health Fellowship in Minority Health Policy, respectively. It is through the generosity of our funders that, to date, we have trained 124 physicians, dentists and mental health providers. These individuals have acquired masters-level degrees at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and/or the Harvard Kennedy School. They have attended numerous lectures given by senior leaders in health policy throughout the United States and have visited with and shadowed these leaders. The fellows and scholars have also met with and networked with heads of federal agencies and foundations. All of this could not have been possible without the wisdom of our advisory board and coordinating committee, the dedication and commitment of Harvard faculty, administrators and staff, and the many individuals from across multiple organizations who have served as sponsors, planners, hosts, speakers and advisors; I thank each and every one of you. I would also like to thank the fellows and scholars who continue to amaze each year. I am so very proud of you and your commitment to service. I have watched you grow and become powerful leaders, yourselves, in advancing health policy and healthcare delivery systems throughout the nation. It is your enthusiasm, determination, and desire to make a true and measurable impact in the world that inspires and uplifts me every day."
