Marcos A. Moreno, MD most recently served as Chief Resident and Public Psychiatry Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale University. His clinical interests include trauma disorders, integrative medicine, and addiction medicine. A member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and a former National Health Service Corps Scholar, Dr. Moreno is dedicated to advancing health equity in underserved and Indigenous communities.
He has led community-based behavioral health initiatives and conducted research on mental health and addiction treatment for Native populations. He has been awarded several nationally prestigious fellowships, including the APA-SAMHSA Fellowship, the Ginsburg Fellowship through the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry, and the Climate & Health Equity Fellowship. As part of his APA-SAMHSA Fellowship, he secured funding to pilot a project improving behavioral health retention and engagement on the Pascua Yaqui Reservation.
His policy and advocacy work is reflected in his publications on addiction, environmental health outcomes, and Indigenous health disparities. His work has been featured in The Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, Psychiatric Services, and a United Nations-sponsored volume. Dr. Moreno also serves as a board member for the University of Arizona Center for Native American Health. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and his Doctor of Medicine from UND-School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
