Dr. Elna Nagasako is a faculty member in the Division of General Medical Sciences in the Department of Internal Medicine at Washington University. She collaborates with BJC HealthCare’s Center for Clinical Excellence on projects in the areas of population health and transitions of care. Her work includes qualitative and administrative data research on social factors affecting health outcomes during transitions of care between hospital and community settings, projects to improve hospital-community health center transitions of care communication, and support for initiatives incorporating patient input into organizational process improvement. She teaches medicine residents at the Barnes-Jewish Center for Outpatient Health primary care clinic and previously served as the founding director of the Global Health Scholars in Medicine program at Washington University School of Medicine.
Dr. Nagasako received her MD from Washington University, a PhD from the University of Rochester, and an MPH from the Harvard School of Public Health. She completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and was a 2011-2012 Mongan Commonwealth Fund Fellow in Minority Health Policy at Harvard Medical School.
